Short version: Saral apps work offline. We do not collect personal data, sell data, or require an account. Ads are shown through Google AdMob and are subject to Google's privacy policy.

1. Who we are
Saral ("we", "our", "us") is the developer behind a family of Android apps published on the Google Play Store under the developer account Saral. Our website is thesaral.com.
2. Apps covered by this policy
This Privacy Policy applies to all Android apps we publish, including but not limited to:
Each app's Play Store listing also links directly to this policy. Where an individual app has specific data practices that differ from this general policy, those are noted on the app's Play Store listing and within the app itself.
3. What we collect
Most Saral apps are fully offline and collect nothing. Where applicable, the following limited data may be processed:
3a. Files and media you explicitly share with the app
Some apps (ScanLek, Safe Space, PocketPDF, ShubhKaard, RangSetu, DesiMeme, QuickReel) access photos, documents, or files that you explicitly select within the app. This data is processed entirely on your device and is never uploaded to our servers. We do not retain copies of your files.
3b. App usage data (anonymous, aggregated)
We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how our apps are used and to fix crashes. The data collected is anonymous and aggregated. It may include:
- App version, device model, OS version, and country (not precise location)
- Screen views and feature interactions (anonymous event names, no content)
- Crash reports including stack traces (no personal data)
This data is processed by Google and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
3c. Commodity price data (Aaj ka Bhav)
Aaj ka Bhav fetches publicly available commodity and fuel price data from our server to display current rates. Your city preference (selected by you in-app) may be sent as a query parameter. No personal identity is transmitted.
3d. AI-generated content (RangSetu)
RangSetu sends the text and design parameters you enter (occasion, name, business name, message) to an AI backend (powered by Google Gemini) to generate poster text suggestions. This input is not associated with any personal identifier and is not stored beyond the request lifecycle. This is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
4. What we do NOT collect
- We do not ask you to create an account or provide a name, email, or phone number.
- We do not collect precise GPS location.
- We do not access your contacts, call logs, or SMS.
- We do not record audio or video in the background.
- We do not build user profiles or sell any data to third parties.
- We do not use your data for targeted advertising beyond what Google's ad network provides based on its own policies.
5. Advertising (Google AdMob)
Our free apps display advertisements through Google AdMob. Google may use device identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID) to serve personalised ads based on your interests. Before showing personalised ads, apps display a consent prompt in accordance with Google's EU User Consent Policy (where required).
You can opt out of personalised ads at any time:
- On your Android device: Settings → Privacy → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation
- Or reset your Advertising ID from the same menu.
Ad activity is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and AdMob's policies.
6. In-app purchases
Some apps offer an optional one-time paid upgrade (e.g., "Pro" or "Plus") via Google Play Billing. All payment processing is handled entirely by Google Play. We receive confirmation of a purchase but do not receive or store your payment card details or billing address.
7. Analytics and crash reporting
We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (both by Google). These tools help us fix bugs and improve the apps. All data is anonymous. You can review Google's data retention and deletion policies at Firebase support.
8. Device permissions
Each app requests only the permissions it needs for its core function. Every permission request includes an in-app explanation of why it is needed, shown before the system dialog. Common permissions and their use:
- Camera — ScanLek: to photograph documents for scanning.
- Storage / Media — ScanLek, PocketPDF, Safe Space, ShubhKaard, RangSetu, DesiMeme, QuickReel: to read files you select and save exports to your gallery.
- Notifications — Aaj ka Bhav, ShabdGo: to send optional daily price or puzzle alerts (only if you enable them).
- Internet — Apps that need to load ads, fetch rate data, or call the AI backend.
9. Children's privacy
Our apps are not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data through one of our apps, please contact us at support@thesaral.com and we will take steps to delete it.
10. Data deletion
Because we do not associate data with personal accounts, there is no data stored under your identity that we can retrieve or delete on request. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored app data from your device.
For anonymous analytics data held by Firebase, you may request deletion by emailing support@thesaral.com with your approximate device model and timeframe; we will forward the request to Google.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify users through a notice within the app or on the Play Store listing.
